Whyyyyyy?

I’ve been tagged in this meme by the lovely Rachel. You can read her post right here. It’s all about “Why?”, or rather, your own list of Whys.

The rules are:

1. Post your whys – as few or as many as you like
2. Link up your post at Mummy Central, and leave a comment here too
3. Tag 5 bloggers to keep this going
4. If you’re not a blogger, leave your whys as a comment below. I’d love to read them
5. Show your support by reading a few others and commenting on them

Here goes:

Why does the sun not like England?

Why oh Why did they kill Mike off in Desperate Housewives?

Why is my husband completely obsessed with football?

Why does Baby Z still not sleep through at the age of 18 months?

And why won’t he eat anything besides sweetcorn?

Why does my car fob set other car alarms off? Oops.

Why don’t we have our passports ready yet for holiday?

Why does PC Plum in Balamory sing about telling you about the birds and the bees? (it’s true! Listen closely next time).

Why do I hate Grandpa in my pocket?

Why doesn’t the “Disaster” song come on more often in the Zingzillas?

Why does my toast burn the second I turn my back on it.

Why do birds do the Dawn chorus? Apparently it’s something to do with marking territory. (at 4am???!!)

Why do the nicest people marry such horrible people? Yes, yes..opposite attract. But.. Still!

Why are the nicest people still single?

Why do I think of the right come back a day after the event?

Why is there such a thing as separation anxiety?

And why is there such a thing as sleep regression? Is it to remind you just in case you forgot? (I know, there’s a theme here!)

And the one that’s been stuck in my head since I started this post…

Why do birds suddenly appear, every time you are near?

There you have it. I’ll add more as I think of them. So now, I tag….

The Mothers Day Meme

I’ve been tagged in a Mothers Day Meme by the lovely Gemma from Always a Mum and Far from Home Mama. I know the UK has had its one but it’s not Mothers Day in other countries until May and, really, if you think about it, it’s Mothers day every day isn’t it?

So here goes…

Describe Motherhood in three words
Life changing, Amazing, Hard

Does your experience differ from your mother’s – how?
Like poles apart. My mum and dad had no family support as they were relatively new to the UK about 35 years ago. She had her immediate family but my dad didn’t really have anyone and worked 14 hour days. I’ve had both my own family and my Inlaws going us a lot of support and “us” time. I don’t know how the hell my parents did it with 3 kids and two full time jobs. I would have to admit, in comparison, I am a total lightweight!

What’s the best thing?

The cuddles. The amazingness of it all. How I’ve grown him, how he picks things up and you are left stunned at his new skills. How he smiles, and babbles and does funny things!

How has it changed you?
I have become more settled and more of a stress head all at the same time. I used to be the type of person that hated sitting indoors, even for one day. I would now gladly do it and am more than happy with a a movie and pizza. I’ve become a worrier though. Will my boy grow up in a good world? Will he have good friends? What if he hurts himself? What if what if etc etc!

What do you hope for your children?

That he grows up to be a happy good man and is successful in whatever he wants to achieve in life.

What do you fear for them?

Everything… Will he be happy? Will he be ok? Should we move? Schools? Etc etc. I could go on all day!

What makes it all worthwhile?
When he puts his head in my lap. When he does something that makes my OH and I look at each other and beam so proudly. When he throws his head back and chuckles with all his body. I could go on all day 🙂

Now I have to tag some mummy’s so I tag:

What’s on Your MP3 Player?

The lovely LagosMum has tagged me in the meme What’s On Your Mp3 player?. Quite a lot of old (and some embarrassing) stuff… Argggh!

You have to put your MP3 player on shuffle and confess to what the first five songs that play.

Sooooo… This is what came up.

1. Broken Strings by James Morrison and Nelly Furtado
Hurrah. Great song

2. JLS – Do you feel what I feel
Hubby hates JLS but I love this (as does his 7 year old nephew)

3. Rihanna – What’s my name
I don’t actually like this song!

4. Alicia Keys – New York
I love this song though!

5. Usher – Yeah
Quite old now but still good!

The Ultimate Christmas Meme

Seeing as I feel like I am hungover from yesterdays party I thought this would be the ideal gentle meme to do. Requires not too much stress, no preparing anything and definitely no making rice (which actually turned out quite good!!).

I have been tagged by the lovely Jess from Mum2BabyInsomniac to join in with this Christmas themed Meme created by Carolin from Mummy Alarm.

1. The Christmas song I can even listen to in June is…

All I want for Christmas is You. By Mariah Carey!

2. Hot chocolate, egg nog or mulled wine?
Hot chocolate! Egg nog is a bit bleurgh!

3. When do you put your decorations up?
Usually the first week of Xmas but this year it’s been birthday decorations first and they really are all over the place!

4. What are you having for Christmas dinner?
Christmas dinner with all the trimmings but with chicken. I don’t really like Turkey very much. Oh and we are having birthday cake too for party number 2!

5. What’s your favourite Christmas tradition?
Giving presents to the kiddies. The look on their faces is the best. Shortly followed by Christmas dinner of course!

6. Have you ever gone carole singing?
Umm, nope! I’ve been in the Christmas choir a lot as a child though. Does that count? No? Ok, no then.

7. When did you discover the truth about Santa?
I think I was about 8 and I’m not sure how I knew but my brother and I left out secret sacks (shopping bags!!)for Santa to fill because we were being greedy. We knew something was amiss when they were still empty the next day. Discovery of the tooth fairy is a very similar story!

8. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
We don’t really have a Xmas tree… Is that bad? I do like to chuck tinsel on it when I do have one though!!

10. All I want for Christmas is…..
A holidaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!! To New York. Is that too much to ask?? We can leave baby at Naanis house and he can have his own little holiday. So, can I?

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!

I have been tagged in a I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here inspired meme by the lovely Jenny Paulin from Mummy Mishaps in a post originally started by Kate On Thin Ice.

I used to watch this programme religiously, especially when Katie P and Peter Andre got together (remember that one?). I’ve not followed it so much this year but I did enjoy Sinitta screaming every second, for about one task. Then my ears just hurt!

So here goes….

1. What one thing about being parent makes you scream “get me out of here” ?
When baby decides he doesn’t want to nap at all. Those days I pretty much stand by the door waiting for 6.15pm so that I can hand the baby over as soon as hubby steps in the door. Then I run like hell!

2. What skills, if any, do you have that would be useful in the jungle?
I think I’m a pretty decent cook and no matter what I make there are always a lot leftover (I just tend to make too much!). So no-one would go hungry. Ever! I can also yap for Britain so you wouldn’t get bored.

3. How are you likely to annoy people if you were stuck with them for 3 weeks
I would probably show pictures of my baby every chance I got! I’d probably do a lot of Sinitta style screaming as well and end up getting voted for a LOT of tasks!

4. Whats the worst thing you had ever eaten?
I once had a “soup” at a “dinner party” and it tasted really sticky and was a bit hard to swallow. I asked what it was and it turned out it was Lamb legs boiled till the bones released the marrow, which is then used to make this “delicious soup”. I wanted to throw up but managed to swallow it. I didn’t have any more *shudder*.

5. What luxury item would you take into the jungle with you?

My phone and maybe a a very powerful wifi hub!

6. What is the most daring thing you have ever done?

At the age of 13 my friends and I once spent the night in a haunted house. (My friends!). Nothing happened but we didn’t sleep all night and went home utterly freaked out.

7. Who would you miss most if you went into the jungle with a bunch of strangers?
My baby boy and husband.

8. What celebrity alive or dead would you like to have with you in the jungle?
Someone like Jamie Oliver who could make nice meals for everyone or Philip Schofield, just for his company!

9. What would scare you about being in the jungle?
Woodlice and Maggots. I don’t mind spiders but those two things would have me squirming a lot!

10. After leaving the jungle, you go to a luxury hotel. What would be the first thing you did on reaching your hotel?

Sit in the tub and scrub myself convinced I had nits and tics attached to me

11th mission should you choose to accept it is to tell us why the person who tagged you is a star

Jenny is the mum of a very active toddler and a baby boy that sometimes wakes in the night. She manages to entertain them all day AND cook some very nice things including chutneys. I have no idea where she gets all her energy from but after this I’m off to read her Slow Roast beef recipe. Check it out here.

So now my next task is to pass this on and the rules are as follows:
1) Answer the 10 questions and consider the mission – DONE

2) Tag a blogger or two or more to do the same – I will tag
@AlysonsBlog
@Mum2BabyInsomniac
@SomethingBlue
@AlliMarshall
@TheBoyAndMe

3) Come back to me and tell me you have done the questions and answers so
