The Friendevous

Baby Z has been having a bit of a “Friendevous” these past few weeks. I thought it was a bit of a phase but now I fear he is becoming a bit attached to her. By her, I mean our washing machine. Each day, when we finally get home from work, as soon as I put him down, he will run as fast as he can to the far corner of the kitchen where our washing machine stands obediently. He greets her by yelling and babbling happily. Sometimes, when he’s really excited he even does a bit of a tap dance and a twirl if the mood takes him. He then proceeds to reach up and push the ON button and then does an extra little jig when the “ON tune” plays.

He will hover around her all day and constantly push the ON/OFF button to make sure she knows he is there. Even mid spin!! Suffice to say I am now constantly confused as to where I am up to with the laundry. Has it finished? Has it not? Was it on spin? Should I start again? Arrrghh! Mind you I have been guilty, on occasion, of letting him entetain his friend so that I have a quiet 5 minutes to do the dishes.

His other favourite thing is to constantly shut the washing machine doors as soon as they are open. The OH and I are currently being subjected to painful arm trapping as we attempt to load/unload whilst Baby Z simultaneously shuts the door. Hard. He’s also decided that the fridge magnets look much nicer on the washing machine and has tried to reach as high as he can and decorate her. On days when he can’t be bothered bashing her buttons he will simply smile when the spin comes on and imitate her with an emphatic “Bhoooooooooooo!”

My biggest fear is that one day I am going to come home to a fed up and broken washing machine who has finally had enough of her buttons being punded. After a scare this week where the little fancy light display said “PF” (Eh? What does that mean?) I had to take drastic action. Baby Z and the washing machine are now banned from spending any time together. He isn’t taking the separation too well and is spending parts of the day trying to break into the kitchen. They are separated by a door handle at the moment. His inability to reach and turn it fully is the only thing keeping him from bashing her buttons and doing his little jig. Any time he does escape into the kitchen he will defiantly point to the washing machine and exclaim “TA!” which I think translates to mean “I need to do bash those buttons and do my bum wiggle dance”.

We are hoping we don’t have to unleash the “Washing machine guard dog”, the one thing he is afraid of…the Hoover. For now, we’re hoping this Friendevous passes by quickly!

Extreme Closeup

This weeks theme in the Gallery is Extreme Close up.

We have a tree on our front lawn. We used to call it “the Ring” tree when we first moved into our house about 3 years ago. It stands bang in the centre of the grass patch and, in the winter, can sometimes look a bit eery.

Come summer though the green leaves on it turn an amazing deep red colour and will continue to turn different shades, even looking almost crimson sometimes. To this day I’ve never worked out what kind of tree it is. I’m not green fingered in the slightest so, to me, if it’s not an oak or an evergreen I am completely clueless. I didn’t realise we had a cherry tree in the back garden till my neighbour told me!

Anyway, I became so taken with our “red” tree I tried to figure out what it was and took a few close up shots of the leaves to send to my friends. People came back with different suggestions so, to this day, I’m still not sure!

A: Not My Year Off and I’ve now been blogging for about 10 months.

 

Q: Will Britmums Live be your First blogging conference?

A: Yes,  I am very very VERY scared.  My first blogging conference ever.  ever.

 

Q: Did you bag yourself a sponsor?

A: Noooo….someone sponsor me please!

 

Q: Are you attending both days?

A: I’m not sure.  I am trying my best to skive off work but there is a chance I may only attend Saturday

 

Q: What are you most looking forward to about the conference?

A: Meeting other blooggers in real life and seeing some excellent keynote speakers

 

Q: Are you wearing Branded Clothing ( you’re sponsors brand)?

A: Nope…(well, maybe if I ever find a sponsor!)

 

Q: What is your planed style for this event?

A: Style?  Probably Jeans with a dress or top and maybe heels if I’m pushing it.  Probably flats if I don’t fancy murdering my feet!

 

Q: Are you hoping to be nominated for a BiB award?

A: I was nominated by some gorgeous lovely people (Thank you!!) but didn’t make the shortlist.

 

Q: if so what category?

A: Best Blog ever.  Ok, not really…it was in the Best New blog category.  I’d like to thank my

 

Q: Will you be looking to network with Brands?

A: Yes, Its all very new to me but would love to build a relationship up with people, snag some free stuff and then maybe start writing reviews.

 

Q: What do u hope to walk away having gained from the conference?

A: Lot of blog ideas, maybe a new direction, lots of fun and some friends

 

Q: Will you be dressing up in the toilets for the Friday night BiBs?

A: I need more than one outfit? Oh shoite….(In truth, yes if I make it Friday night!)

 

Q: Are you speaking at the conference and if so when, where and how do you feel about doing so?

A: Nope!  I may just scream like a crazy fan when I see my favourite bloggers.

 

Q: Will you be joining in the early morning bloggercise on the Saturday?

A: Nooooooooo Chance! 

 

Q: What speakers are you most looking forward to listening to?

A: Sarah Brown, Ruby Wax and Jane Blackmore.

 

Q: What workshops will you be attending on the Friday (Day 1)

A: Not sure yet (Can you see how disorganised I am), it’ll be all the ones that help me better my blog.

 

Q: What Workshops being held on the Saturday (Day 2) have grabbed your attention?

A: How to make money from your blog and Advanced WordPress

 

Q: Are u booked into a hotel for the Friday night, if yes which one?

A: Not yet!

 

Q: Will you be looking for after party drinks

A: I dont drink but I will join anyone for a good natter!

 

Q: Are u worried about not knowing anyone or being confident and socialising on the day?

A: Yes!! I will be the one stood in the newbie corner cluthing my folder and biro.

A: Say “oh my god!” a bit too much and crying everytime someone makes a remotely emotional speech!
